Name's Dalton If the opening cut of Criminal Element brought their more highbrow yet feral collegiate post-hardcore era to a close, the second song heralded the trio as a deft practitioner of of the terse, bracing noise rock that bands like TAR, Helmet, Shellac, Johnboy, and Guzzard were playing at the time. God and Texas just sounded more menacing and truculent than their contemporaries - except for maybe Shellac, who, after all, sang about goading someone into fighting over a watch.
